American's Central America and Mexico Sale

American Airlines does a fine job of covering the Central America and Mexico flight market, and as can be witnessed in this sale, generally does so at cheap rates (see comparable rates from Delta and United, too). Flights start at $252 round-trip, and can be purchased at these rates through July 11 for departures coming on August 15 through February 2. All travel must be complete by February 7. Central American fares are cheapest on Mondays through Thursdays. A two-night stay and Saturday-overnight stay are required. See the sale provider for various embargo dates, which generally fall during peak-travel days in November, December, and January.by patricia magana

Cool Must See Tourist Attractions

Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park

Ditch the tourist crowds at Old Faithful and head to Yellowstone's secret star, the Grand Prismatic Spring. Approximately 370 feet wide and 121 feet deep, Grand Prismatic is the largest hot spring in the park and the third largest in the world. The water may look tempting, but don't dive in—it's around a scalding 160 degrees. The stunning colors are caused by different species of pigmented bacteria, photosynthesis, and refracted light.

The Colosseum (Underground), Italy

Rome's Colosseum, an ancient amphitheater and former gladiator battleground, is one of the world's most famous attractions. But most people don't know that there's a whole secret section that can now be explored—the underground. In 2010 the Italian government decided to allow small groups of visitors inside the Colosseum's subterranean level to see where gladiators made their grand entrances from and their final exits (at the Porta Libitina, the arch through which bodies were removed). Visitors can also see where exotic animals like lions and tigers were held below ground before being hauled up in elevators to appear suddenly before the screaming crowds.

Pamukkale, Turkey

The bright blue pools of Pamukkale in Turkey look as if they're sitting atop piles of snow or cotton (hence the name, which is Turkish for Cotton Castle), but in reality the natural pools and terraces are formed by calcite deposits. The thermal pools, with temperatures of around 95 degrees and a number of healing minerals, are thought to have therapeutic qualities, so be sure to take a dip in the Sacred Pool if you visit. Ancient emperors and kings used to vacation at the pools here, so you’ll be bathing in history.

Racetrack, Death Valley, California

It's a mystery of the desert: In an isolated valley between the Cottonwood and Last Chance mountain ranges, the Racetrack features rocks that appear to be moved by a secret force. The rocks sit on a playa (dry lakebed) and move across the flat surface, leaving trails in their wake. According to the National Park Service, some of the large rocks have traveled up to 1,500 feet, but no one has ever actually seen them move.by caroline morse

100 Free American AAdvatnage Miles Offering

How much are 100 frequent flyer miles worth?
It depends, of course, on how they're earned and what they're redeemed for. But the average mile, by my calculation, is worth around 1.2 cents. Which means that 100 miles would be worth $1.20.
I'm old enough to remember when that was enough for a bus ride or a cup of coffee. But those days are long gone.
Today? There's not much you can do with $1.20. Or with 100 miles.
Still, the 100 miles in question may be worth pursuing. Here's how, and why ...
Offer Details
Through July 20, AAdvantage members can earn a quick and easy 100 bonus miles by liking American's Summer Miles Challenge Facebook page and filling in the requested contact information.

Higher Lodging Prices To Mac Computer Users?

the Wall Street Journal announced that Orbitz shows higher hotel prices to Mac users than to PC users. Orbitz acknowledged this in a statement as well. Before you start drafting an angry letter to their CEO here's an important disclaimer: they're not showing the same hotel at different prices—they're showing different hotels at different prices.
It's not a scam. They're doing it because they believe that Mac users want to see higher hotel prices. And they didn't come up with this idea after a three-martini brainstorming lunch either—they arrived at the concept after months of tracking user preferences. They found that Mac users are 40% more likely to book a 4 or 5 star hotel than a PC user.

This is one of the drawbacks of tracking behavior online. If you're looking for upscale hotels, you might be grateful not to have to sort through all of the bargain properties to find what you're looking for. On the other hand, if you're looking for a bargain, you're going to have take an extra step to find it on Orbitz fortunately it's easy—just select the "sort by price" option on the screen and they'll list the properties by price).
Nonetheless, all of this reminded me of how important it is to be smart about finding good deals—no matter what platform you're on. Here are some tips:
1. Shop around and keep your cache clean. Don't just visit one site and call it day. Compare prices in different places  In between searches, clear your cache to keep sites from tracking your behavior.
2. Watch prices. Keep abreast of airfare prices via a site like FareCompare so you know how prices are trending and can recognize a deal when you see one.
3. Use new tools. Widen your net by searching with HotelSweep.com, a site that searches smaller, independent properties that aren't listed on major online travel agencies like Orbitz or Expedia. After you book, share your reservation with Backbid.com, a site that reaches out to nearby hotel competitors to see if any of them will extend you a better offer (or a nicer room for the same price).
4. Consider a vacation rental. Vacation rentals can be a great way to experience the local culture and save money at the same time. Two of my favorite rental sites are AirBnB and Roomorama.
5. Look for packages. Some resorts are still hurting and by bundling in airfare or car rentals, they can lower their prices while still preserving their brand integrity. If you do your research you can find some good deals.
6. Check out independent deal sites. Find great deals by using a site that will vouch for the savings for you. We do this in our Real Deals section where we find and vet deals for you. DealBase is another site that does this.
7. Be smart about when you book. Studies have found that airfares tend to drop midweek, so plan your booking between Tuesday and Thursday. If you can swing it, try to lock in airfare prices at least 8 weeks in advance. Hotels should be booked as soon as possible.by laura michonski

Alaska Airlines' Sale Offers Cheap Flights

If Alaska Airlines flies a particular route, it's often usually the cheapest carrier. Case in point with this latest promotion, which discounts flights to several points of interest, including Honolulu, Las Vegas, Orlando, and Seattle. On occasion, American, Frontier, Hawaiian, Us Airways, and United match the sale rates. Travel periods vary but range between late June through mid-November. Booking deadlines, too, are dependent on route, and are as early as June 27.

Air France Europe Summer Sale

Air France's latest sale features Europe flights to a handful of popular cities, including Barcelona, London, Moscow, and Paris. Taxes and fees-inclusive pricing for late-summer travel starts at $864, but I was hard-pressed to find cheap fares from Air France. Instead look to American, British Airways, Delta, Finnair, Iberia, KLM, Lufthansa, and United for similarly priced rates. Travel midweek beginning August 12, stay as much as a month, and but book at least seven days in advance and by August 11.patricia magna source

Dallas Sale on American - Flights from $178 R/T

With a major focus on one of its primary hubs, American's Dallas sale discounts summer flights between Texan and Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, New York City, and Orlando among the nearly 50 cities across the nation. Though American doesn't always have the cheapest flights, it usually has the best itinerary (nonstops) or friendlier bag-fee policy Spirit has cheaper fares but charges for carry-on bags. Sale travel is valid from July 1 through August 15, with the exception of July 8, 15, 22, 29; and August 5, 6, 12, and 19. Tickets must be purchased at least 14 days in advance and by June 25.by patricia magana

Stunning Sunsets Around The World

Sydney, Australia

Any climber will tell you that strenuous exercise makes the view that much sweeter. Work up a sweat on the Sydney Harbour Bridge with a hike courtesy of BridgeClimb, then stop to take in an astounding sunset Down Under from more than 400 feet above the Tasman Sea

Islamorada, Florida Keys

Known as the "Sport-Fishing Capital of the World," the Keys are any angler's dream. Of course, if stalking sailfish and wrangling wahoos doesn't sound appealing, lounging on a boat and staring at a Florida-orange sunset is pleasing to just about anybody.

Augrabies Falls National Park, South Africa

The name "Augrabies" derives from a word meaning "place of big noises," but big views of arid land and open sky also abound in this national park. The crashing Augrabies Falls and the distinctive silhouettes of kokerboom trees rest easily against a twilit South African sky.

Hillerod, Denmark

With its lofty Renaissance spires, Frederiksborg Castle provides conditions for almost any kind of sightseeing. Wander the museum during the day, then stay late to see the sun's descent over the gardens and Castle Lake; the views are almost as baroque as the landscaping.

Krystal Cancun, Mexico Great Deal

Head out to the far western tip of Jamaica and you'll find this lively beachfront resort in Negril. It is right on the beach, but the place to be is by one of the umbrella-style loungers around the two huge pools. There is a party atmosphere here, and the complimentary mini bars and liquor dispensers in the 420 guest rooms are regularly restocked. If you want to go all out, head to the Pacha nightclub, where reggae is sure to be spinning. If you are looking for quiet, try the solarium terrace. Bonus The resort often adds credits to the Renova Spa in the all-inclusive packages, such as $20 per person toward a 50-minute massage (massages start at $100). Norman Manley Blvd., Negril, Jamaica, 888/748-4990, riu.com. From $101 per person, per night.

Natural Bridge Aruba

The Natural Bridge is probably one of the most important attractions in Aruba. Located in the eastern side of the island, it is limestone formation that was pounded for thousands of years by waves and wind creating a bridge that span for over 100 feet and it was over 25 feet high, making a impressive site on the island.

This attraction is free for all visitors and there are any types of restrictions on getting on top of the bridge, just safety ones, so individuals do not fall from it. It is a long and hard fall if that where to happen.

aruba natural bridge
This Bridge is readily accessible place, unlike Natural Pool that you need a four-wheel-car or a guided tour, with this attraction, any type of car can take you without any problem. It is still a dirt road around the coast, but it is just a dirt road and nothing else.

aruba natural bridge

There are still tours available for visitors, but for them, it is just more than a stop for some of the tours operators. It is also a great place for picnics and a romantic afternoon since the wind constantly blows on the east side, makes its mosquito-free and great place to sit down, relax and enjoy the view from the bridge.
aruba natural bridge
Unfortunately in 2005, the bridge collapse, resulting in a great lost for the island. It was determine that some cracks in the limestone and some geological forces facilitated the natural bridge collapse.
aruba natural bridge baby
In its place there is a baby bridge in the same location, just a few feet away, even though it is a smaller portion of the natural bridge, visitors can still walk on top of it and feel the wind and waves hit it, like on the old bridge.
baby natural bridge

In the island of Aruba, there are more than seven smaller bridges, but because of access and size, natural bridge with its baby bridge are still the king and queen on the island, but if you have the desire, time and energy, to see some of the other bridges on the island, we recommend talking with the locals, so they can provide information on accessibility condition and directions to some of them.

aruba natural

There is a refreshments and snacks store, with full toilet services that can provide some culinary needs. In general terms, the food is o.k. but the view from the bridge is even better. It is a sad ending to a magnificent piece of nature, but the baby bridge still draws plenty of daily visitors.

Kiss The Blarney Stone

world statesmen, literary giants, and legends of the silver screen have joined the millions of pilgrims climbing the steps to kiss the Blarney Stone and gain the gift of eloquence. Its powers are unquestioned but its story still creates debate.
Once upon a time, visitors had to be held by the ankles and lowered head first over the battlements. Today, we are rather more cautious of the safety of our visitors. The Stone itself is still set in the wall below the battlements. To kiss it, one has to lean backwards from the parapet walk. The prize is a real one as once kissed the stone bestows the gift of eloquence.

Some say it was Jacob’s Pillow, brought to Ireland by the prophet Jeremiah. Here it became the Lia Fail or ‘Fatal Stone’, used as an oracular throne of Irish kings – a kind of Harry Potter-like ‘sorting hat’ for kings. It was also said to be the deathbed pillow of St Columba on the island of Iona. Legend says it was then removed to mainland Scotland, where it served as the prophetic power of royal succession, the Stone of Destiny.
When Cormac MacCarthy, King of Munster, sent five thousand men to support Robert the Bruce in his defeat of the English at Bannockburn in 1314, a portion of the historic Stone was given by the Scots in gratitude – and returned to Ireland.
Others say it may be a stone brought back to Ireland from the Crusades – the ‘Stone of Ezel’ behind which David hid on Jonathan’s advice when he fled from his enemy, Saul. A few claim it was the stone that gushed water when struck by Moses.
Whatever the truth of its origin, we believe a witch saved from drowning revealed its power to the MacCarthys

Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro, known as the cidade maravilhosa (marvelous city), is nothing if not exhilarating. Flanked by gorgeous mountains, white-sand beaches and verdant rainforests fronting deep blue sea, Rio occupies one of the most spectacular settings of any metropolis in the world. Tack on one of the sexiest populations on the planet and you have an intoxicating tropical cocktail that leaves visitors punch-drunk on paradise.

With the seductive sounds of samba as their rallying cry, Rio’s residents, known as cariocas, have perfected the art of living well. From the world-famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema to the tops of scenic outlooks of Corcovado and Pão de Açúcar to the dance halls, bars and open-air cafes that proliferate the city, cariocas live for the moment without a care in the world. This idea of paradise has enchanted visitors for centuries, and there are dozens of ways to be seduced. You can surf great breaks off Prainha, hike through Tijuca’s rainforests, sail across Guanabára, dance the night away in Lapa or just people-watch on Ipanema Beach.
While Rio has its share of serious problems, there are plenty of residents – expats included – who wouldn’t dream of relocating

The world’s iciest coldets surf spots

Surfing is usually associated with warm climates, where the smell of coconut oil drifts through the air and bronzed bodies catch waves off golden-sand beaches fringed with palm trees.
But waves do not care about temperature, and a small but growing number of hardcore surfers are forging bikinis and board shorts in favour of thick neoprene suits to ride waves in some of the coldest places on the planet. The rewards of seeking out cold water surf destinations are in the intense, isolated and often overlooked landscapes, where wind chill and primordial surrounds take the sport to a new level. Crowds are at a minimum, especially the further north you go, and you are likely to have beaches all to yourself.

Alaska

In a land of hyperbole – the biggest state, the tallest mountain, the longest coastline, the least roads – Alaska can now take the title of the United States’ best cold-surfing hotspot. The long, sandy beaches of Yakutat are internationally known, but they are not the only place to catch a wave in Alaska. Hardy surfers ride swells off of Kodiak Island, the US’s second-largest island, while adrenaline junkies ride the bore tide into Turnagain Arm just outside of Anchorage.

Canada

With an abundance of northern shoreline, Canada has — unsurprisingly — a thriving surf scene. On the west coast, surfers hang ten off of Vancouver Island, with the little town of Tofino boasting the title of ‘Surf Capital of Canada’. Gord Johns, the executive director of Tofino’s Chamber of Commerce, credits the area’s surf culture to “temperate rainforest, clean ocean, sandy beaches, and perfect waves to learn on.” Ladies visiting Tofino should try the all-girls surf lessons at Surf Sister.
Along Canada’s east coast, surfers flock to Nova Scotia for its empty point breaks, particularly in areas close to Halifax. Visitors can research the area through the Surfing Association of Nova Scotia.

Iceland

This small island-country is home to just one lonely surf operator, Arctic Surfers, which offers packages that combine surfing and backcountry skiing – an odd pairing that you will only find in a cold-water surf destination. But perhaps the best part about surfing in Iceland is the country’s abundance of thermal springs. Thaw out in nature’s hot tub after a cool day on the waves.

Ireland

This rocky island nation is famous for its blustery weather, which in turn creates fantastic conditions for large swells. If you can handle the cold temperatures and often-grumpy weather, you will be rewarded with an amazing view of Ireland’s craggy coastline, seen from a surfboard. And one of the most pleasing aspects of surfing in Ireland is the après surf: warming up in front of a fire in a cosy pub, with a rich and filling pint of Guinness in hand.
Most folks surf off the west and north coasts, and the northwest shoreline of County Donegal is particularly popular, especially during summer months.

Norway

Like many of the other icy surf spots listed here, Norway’s appeal lies not just in its point breaks and beach breaks, but in its dramatic scenery and pristine beaches. Like Alaska and Iceland, Norway also enjoys extended daylight hours, allowing greater flexibility in surf times. Popular areas are near Stavanger, a coastal town close to many good breaks.

Russia

Russia’s surf terrain is relatively unexplored and remote, so a trip here will require a lot of advance research as well as some serious coin. With the Baltic, Caspian and Black Seas, as well as the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, Russia is primed for serious, cold and remote surfing.
More temperate surf resides in Sochi, on the Black Sea, while hardier surfers catch waves near Vladivostok in Russia’s Far East. For inspiration, surfing in polar Russia.
